Rep. Rob Bishop made a statement that meant he should have been out of Congress nearly four years ago

Rep. Rob Bishop (R-Utah) said that no one should be in Congress for more than 12 years.

He has been there for 16.

So according to his own words, the former teacher is nearly four years overdue to return home to Brigham City, Utah. He has been there almost 33 percent longer than he himself said he should be.

Set aside the out-of-state donations (he does believe in federalism) or even his failure to speak out against President Donald Trump on even the most abhorrent things, like penning children. Considering psychology, would Bishop secretly be glad, or at least wouldn’t mind, if voters reflected his own belief regarding length of time in Congress?

Further, you must wonder if a true conservative, like Bishop touts himself to be, would want term limits. That’s aside from wondering if people should step aside on their own volition after a certain amount of time.

When Bishop offered these thoughts, I was interning for him in Washington, D.C. We were in his office, going over constituent letters, as he does with interns. We were talking about Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and his length of time in the Senate.
