Getting started with Shared Shopping Experience!

Similarly, Tokopedia discovered that people were missing moments spent together while shopping. To solve this, Tokopedia developed a shared shopping experience using the Group Activities Framework, enabling users to shop together and feel connected.

Follow these two steps to get the shared shopping experience:

Let’s take a look at this demonstration between two friends, whom we’ll refer to as A & B.

Step 1: Establishing the connection between users A & B.

In the diagram above, two users named A & B are communicating over FaceTime. Let’s say that user A decides to move to the Tokopedia application. User A will see the “start shared shopping” floating button on the home screen. Remember that the users must be on a FaceTime call to see the “start shared shopping” button.

From there, user A can start the shared shopping session, and as soon as the session starts, user B will see the popup on FaceTime to join the session. Once user B accepts the request, both users A & B will be connected in the shared shopping session and can now seamlessly share products with each other. How cool is that?

In the Step 2.1 diagram, user A is sharing product X with other users in the session. Here, user B is connected in the same shared shopping session with user A, and hence, user B will see the shared product notification in the floating view. User B can choose to view the shared product from the bottom sheet, which is open from the floating view.

Step 2.2: User B shares a product with user A.

In the Step 2.2 diagram, user B is sharing products Y & Z with other users in the session, and so, user A will see the shared product notification in the floating view, while user A, again, can choose to view the shared product.
