Hover Over Me

I am standing near the table in my room, adjacent to my bed where mum is seated, weeping. I can see her, but she can’t see me though I know she wishes she could. She looks different, but not in a…

The Rhetoric for Good Looks

We should realize that our purpose in life isn’t to be attractive so that people will love us. Your purpose in life is to live it on your terms

By Riya Handa

We often live with the impression that looks are the sole criteria that define the personality of any person. Actually, this is the stark false notion for any person to live with. Looks indeed, may matter at various places but they are not everything that some people deem them to be so — the single criterion for your growth and development. Some are also under the thought that they can go out and try to impress others just by their looks but rather they end-up with the opposite. The fact goes that most people know the truth now and hence are least concerned about looks.

The case in point is the stigma associated with being dark and fat. Slimness, fairness, attractive looks with good hair, and body were everything that defined women’s personality. Fortunately, we have moved much ahead now and least bother about complexion and looks. Yet, we still find a considerable number of people there endorsing the same archaic thought process about looks.

Maybe, this is true for those who cannot figure out how to glow from inside!

There is nothing gorgeous but a woman who knows her dignity; what she deserves and isn’t afraid of her real self, regardless of the skin color or the size of her body. You can be the prettiest girl in the world, but if you are insecure and selfish, you will end up being the most unlovable.

A beautiful woman thus comes with a set of criteria that define her personality and indeed it is not all about looks only. Hence, that woman:

1. Knows who she is:

What is your purpose? What are your needs, dreams, or desires? The first step to being beautiful is to know yourself truly. It is also about knowing things that weren’t given to you in a society or by the people around you. The insecurities come from the lack of identity especially while letting others define you. So it is always better to take time out of your busy schedule and go on for self-discovery.
